“I truly fell in love with my motherhood. And with myself within it”

A mother's story from the Portrait of Motherhood Archive

MISSION >

Portrait of Motherhood is an international cultural archive dedicated to preserving the stories of motherhood through photography, personal testimonies and artistic practice.

We believe every mother's experience deserves to be seen, remembered and shared. By collecting photographs and stories from around the world, we are creating a living archive for future generations.

A Mother's Voice:

"I drowned out the sirens with my gentle voice, singing lullabies to my daughter."

Anastasia

Maria

"I didn't choose motherhood during war. It chose me."

Lena

"All I could do was pray that we would survive, and that my child would have the chance to be born."

Olya

"I know life will never be the same again, but I believe my child will have a happy future."

Iryna

"No matter what happens, we will live. And one day, we will hear the first cry of new life."
